Literacy Workshop
Literacy is one of the four specific areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Children learn about literacy through play. At Ibtikaar nursery we provide a variety of daily activities that is meaningful to children learning and exploring. To help you understand how we teach literacy through play please attend our workshop to support your child's literacy skills at home.

Literacy Curriculum in the EYFS
Language and Communication:

Speaking clearly and grammatically

Introduction to reading be:

Naming and sounding the letters of the alphabet

Understanding a story has a beginning, middle and end
Introducing Writing:

Using mark-making tools

Using phonics to write simple consonant-vowel-consonant words, and having a go at more complicated words
